Position: Field Service Technician 2 - HOLT Industrial Rentals

Overview

The Field Service Technician II provides face-to-face customer service at an off-site location and is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning various light and heavy industrial equipment.

The incumbent is expected to model practices daily:

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and reinforces the use of HOLT s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to safety policies; complies with company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs intermediate repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision
  • Performs basic to intermediate troubleshooting, diagnoses equipment malfunctions, and conducts failure analysis
  • Removes and installs parts; disassembles and assembles components to CAT specifications
  • Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of repairs and adjustments
  • Prepares and completes all job-related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, maintains customer records; accesses required databases
  • Acts as a team leader and mentors/coaches others
  • Participates in the quotation of work orders
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
  • Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicles in good, clean, working order
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
  • Completes assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat-rate time and re-work standards

* Works overtime as required by workload and customer needs

  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner
  • Projects professionalism with internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may mentor lower-level Technicians

* Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance
  • Intermediate knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical
  • Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Intermediate diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently
  • Operation and control skills of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills to determine tools and equipment needed for a job
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to operate a crane and forklift, with required certifications/licenses
  • Ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • Fine motor coordination to manipulate small objects
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: More than three years of industrial equipment experience required; five or more years preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • MSHA certification preferred
  • Air conditioning certification preferred
  • Crane/Rigger certifications preferred
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None
  • Travel: Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stay
  • Additional Requirements: Valid driver s license required; ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver s License (CDL) and maintain an acceptable driving record; must own required tools to perform repairs
