NOW HIRING – VEHICLE MECHANIC TECHNICIAN Sunnyvale, Texas Pay Rate: $18.00–$22.00 per hour POSITION SUMMARY
Smith Personnel Solutions is seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on a commercial fleet. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills and experience working with diesel-powered equipment, forklifts, trucks, and trailers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Service and maintain forklifts, semi-trucks, flatbed trailers, and diesel-powered equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and identify potential mechanical problems before they result in equipment downtime.
- Perform brake repairs, suspension repairs, and related mechanical work.
- Conduct engine diagnostics and routine engine service.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and electrical components.
- Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, fluid checks, and other routine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Prioritize repairs and maintenance to help maximize equipment uptime.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and recommended maintenance procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Mechanic, Fleet Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Maintenance Technician preferred.
- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing:
- Forklifts
- Semi-trucks
- Flatbed trailers
- Diesel-powered equipment
- Strong hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
- Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic experience.
- Experience with brake systems and suspension components.
- Ability to perform engine diagnostics and routine repairs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals and repair documentation.
- Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements is preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Ability to prioritize repairs based on safety and operational needs.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work around vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to lift and move equipment or parts as required.
- Ability to work safely around diesel equipment, vehicles, hydraulic systems, and moving machinery.
