Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the upkeep and repair of residential properties to ensure all units, building systems, and common areas remain safe, functional, and in compliance with company standards. This role requires close coordination with the Property Manager, vendors, and contractors to complete projects efficiently. Availability to respond to emergency calls, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle assigned work tickets and maintenance requests, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
  • Prepare vacant units for rent by cleaning, repairing, and ensuring all systems and appliances are in proper working order
  • Clean and maintain common areas and ensure community grounds, including the lake perimeter, are kept in good condition
  • Keep the maintenance shop clean, organized, and properly inventoried with labeled storage for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and hardware
  • Assist vendors and contractors, maintain accurate records of materials provided, and perform walkthroughs before and after construction projects
  • Participate in daily inspections with the Property Manager to track unit readiness and service request progress
  • Adhere to the approved budget for repairs, unit preparation, and maintenance projects
  • Coordinate and document weekly safety meetings and assist with training sessions on safety procedures and best practices
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in property maintenance or facilities management, with knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or HVAC considered an advantage. Applicants must be able to use basic tools, perform general repairs, and demonstrate strong problem-solving and communication skills. Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be required to pass a background check.
