Summary

The PK-8 School Support Assistant provides comprehensive clerical, communication, and operational support to ensure safe and efficient daily school operations. Essential duties include serving as a primary point of contact for the building; composing, compiling, and distributing school communications; processing attendance and athletics-related requests and transactions; supporting required reporting; maintaining student records and databases; supporting student open enrollment and registration; assisting administrators and counselors;

and providing backup support to the School Office Manager and health room operations.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for the building by providing front-office reception services, supporting visitor management and building security procedures, responding to inquiries, and directing individuals to appropriate staff in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain student records in Student Information Systems (SIS). Ensuring student data, reporting, and attendance compliance by reviewing attendance records for accuracy and timeliness, ensuring parent/guardian information is properly documented, assisting with follow-up on attendance concerns, and verifying data for required reporting periods.
  • Provide clerical and operational support to the school community by managing information, coordinating routine processes, collecting and filing student permission slips, supporting daily school operations, and responding to inquiries from students, families, staff, community members, and district personnel.
  • Provide backup support to the School Office Manager and the student health room, as directed, during staff absences or high-volume times. Supporting essential operational, clerical, and student care needs, including emergency functions, assisting with documentation and communication, and following established health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Oversee student office assistants as directed.
  • Assist counselors and/or administrators, including supporting students when a counselor or administrator is not available, retrieving students from classes, and scheduling appointments.
  • Support school community communications by composing, distributing, and maintaining communication tools and resources.
  • Coordinate athletic events by managing the end-to-end athletic registration process; collecting and maintaining student physical documentation; scheduling event transportation; supporting administrators with the hiring and onboarding of extra-duty staff; coordinating and maintaining volunteer eligibility; scheduling officials; and tracking payments.
  • Coordinate student enrollment activities by supporting student transitions and prospective family engagement, scheduling visits and events, responding to inquiries, preparing materials, and maintaining related information in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience in secretarial or clerical work.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.

Salary Information

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education. The pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group. BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process, in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
