Position Description

(Campus Support - Level II position)

NOTE:

Students may apply for one or both positions (International Orientation Team Leader and/or WoW Team Leader).
Please explain in your cover letter which position(s) you would like to be considered for. We will work with students who would like to do both to ensure no scheduling conflicts arise between the programs. International Orientation is seeking about 5-6 leaders, and WoW is looking for 5 leaders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered an asset
  • Previous experience as a peer mentor or similar positions, considered an asset
Conditions of employment
  • Must be available for training and events prior to the start of school including International Orientation and WoW
Qualifications
  • All Team Leaders must have completed a minimum of one year (2 semesters) as a student at UW-Superior by Spring 2026
  • Must be enrolled as an on-campus (not Distance Learning) student at least part time for the Spring 2026 semester (must be enrolled for semester no later than December 18th , 2025)
  • Must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA to apply
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Highly responsible, motivated and has a strong desire to assist students with their personal and academic adjustment to UW-Superior including (but not limited to)
  • Helping first year students improve study skills and time management, explore the importance of campus and community involvement, making healthy choices, personal decision making, conflict resolution skills, and identity exploration
  • Possesses a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion, as demonstrated by:
  • Actively promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within their role
  • Contributing to the team by working effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

Orientation:
  • Assist new students and serve as a resource during International Orientation and/or WoW (Weekend of Welcome)
  • Participate fully in activities including leading small groups and discussions designed to address students' questions and concerns
  • Assist new students with checking in and moving into the residence halls
  • Assist with the facilitation of activities
  • Provide one follow up communication and one follow up activity for designated small group after International Orientation and/or WoW.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with students' personal information

  • Setting an example of what a successful student looks like (positive attitude, regularly attending classes, participating in class activities and discussions)
Resource:

Team Leaders serve as a resource to new students by:
  • Connecting students to resources on campus
  • Providing the peer perspective on what it means to be a UW-Superior Yellowjacket
  • Supporting other Team Leaders through their experience (idea sharing, collaborative problem solving, etc.)
Required Training & Events

NOTE:

(applies to both positions)

Contracts (International Orientation and/or WoW Team Leader) must be signed prior to December 15th, 2025.
In person attendance at all training sessions (unless otherwise noted) and all orientation activities are a requirement for these positions. No exceptions will be made.

Compensation (both positions):
  • $11/hour
