Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology
The University of Wisconsin-Superior is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin January 10, 2027, or August 23, 2027. Psychology is an undergraduate program at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Wisconsin's public liberal arts college. The Psychology major/minor are offered both online and on campus. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. Preferred candidates will be able to effectively teach a variety of courses which may include some selection of Introduction to Psychology, courses in cognitive or social psychology, and/or statistics.
Psychology is part of the Department of Human Behavior, Justice and Diversity, with members in Psychology, Legal Studies/Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Indigenous Studies, and therefore encourages applications from diverse backgrounds. Key Job ResponsibilitiesDepartment:

Full-Time: 100% Instructional Academic Staff, one vacancy. Terminal 9-month appointment for the 2027-28 academic year, with the possibility of renewal. A Spring 2027 start date may be considered for the successful candidate, with employment continuing through the 2027-28 academic year.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach 12 credits per semester (including a mix of on-campus and online courses)
- Engage in professional development related to teaching and learning.
- Collaborate in curricular development in the psychology program.
- Engage in the program's High Impact Practices (such as Academic Service-Learning) if assigned to courses containing those components.
- Engage in program service activities such as assessment, scheduling, marketing, recruitment and retention, community partner outreach and recruitment, and other program related support as designated by the program.
- Participate in Department business and engage in limited Department service as needed.
Other Duties:
- Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. in Psychology; an ABD in Psychology will be considered with an earned doctorate required prior to start date
- Willingness to engage in course design and teach in multiple modalities
- University-level teaching (or teaching assistant) experience
- Engagement with professional development related to best practices in teaching and learning, including for asynchronous online teaching
- University-level asynchronous online teaching experience
Salary range for this position is: $53,000 - $56,000 annually.
