Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities may vary depending on the specific position assigned to, but they may include:

  • Perform field visits to assist the area team with troubleshooting equipment
  • Support field investigations to develop and document technical scoping for repair, replacement, and/or modifications
  • Assist in Fitness-For-Service evaluations of equipment identified by the mechanical integrity program to ensure compliance with Cenovus engineering practices and ASME codes/standards
  • Assist in the development and creation of engineering work packages for routine maintenance activities (Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, Work Scope, Vendor Data) in accordance with Cenovus engineering practices and ASME codes/standards
  • Help with updating plant rotating, fixed, electrical, and instrumentation equipment technical drawings/documents
  • Assist with generating and/or updating plant material descriptions for critical spare parts
  • Help to gather and enter updated information into existing or newly created spreadsheets. Data may come from engineering files or verification of equipment located throughout the refinery
  • Contact equipment vendors for missing/required information
  • Participate in field supervision of maintenance and project work conducted throughout the refinery
  • Use predictive maintenance tools to be utilized to examine machinery to assess machinery condition and to determine the scope of work during asset overhaul
  • Assist with creating SAP (ERP software) notifications, purchase requests, and cost accounting methods
Qualifications

Who You Are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
  • Available to begin work in September 2026

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, judgement, and decision-making skills.

We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering degree at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
