Overview:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Contract Project Manager to lead and oversee significant projects. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing projects from conceptualization through to execution and closure, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
Position Summary:
This contract role reports to the Project Engineering Manager and plays a critical part in managing the Capital Project budget for the current year. The Contract Project Manager will handle multiple projects, typically ranging from $0.5MM to $4MM, focusing on sustaining maintenance capital, reliability improvements, process efficiency, and opportunity expansions with multi-discipline teams. You will guide projects from design through construction and commissioning phases, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage project management activities, including oversight of Engineering Provider (EP) detailed design deliverables, constructability assessments, and risk, change, and schedule management.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations experts to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Facilitate procurement, fabrication, and construction activities by overseeing scope of supply, bid processes, and technical and commercial evaluations.
- Ensure that contracted services meet cost, schedule, and quality standards through effective change management processes.
- Develop comprehensive scopes of work and requests for proposals for EP services and participate actively in the bidding process.
- Conduct project meetings and provide executive-level reports on project status, covering cost, schedule, quality, and safety metrics.
- Lead field operations to support and enhance safety culture within the organization.
- Oversee project and equipment scoping, design, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Organize and manage commissioning, pre-start-up safety reviews, document handovers, and project close-out activities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering recognized by ABET.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Engineering Design and Project Management.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, API, CEC, ISA, NFPA).
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in excel and word processing software.
- Preferred: PMP certification and experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Process Controls Engineering.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA standards, and experience in the oil, gas, energy or petrochemical industries.
- Experience with SAP business management software is a plus.
