Job OverviewThe Document Control Specialist is responsible for providing drawing control and document management support for both internal and external stakeholders. This role ensures engineering drawings and process safety information are accurate, accessible, compliant, and effectively managed within the client’s drawing management systems. The position supports engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams by maintaining the integrity and usability of technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, customer‑focused, and experienced in document control processes within engineering, construction, or industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide drawing control support and guidance to internal and external users working within the drawing management system
- Manage user access, permissions, and control processes related to engineering drawing systems
- Deliver user support and training for drawing management systems and related workflows
- Resolve broken hybrid drawings by identifying and correcting CAD x‑reference issues to restore full functionality within Meridian
- Update outdated drawing renditions by regenerating and publishing current PDFs aligned with approved master drawings
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies between master drawings, renditions, and associated metadata to improve system accuracy and data integrity
- Support as‑built consolidation and publishing activities to ensure finalized drawings are completed and accessible prior to project turnover
- Coordinate and fulfill drawing requests through BIM JIRA and Service Request tools
- Conduct drawing control reviews and coordinate SME reviews for major and core projects to ensure compliance with drawing system standards
- Track project review and turnover status throughout all project phases, including design, IFC, and as‑built stages
- Assist users with creating work spaces and project folders to support design, construction, and as‑built documentation activities
- Communicate regularly with internal customers, vendors, engineering service providers, and drafting teams to resolve work process and customer service issues
- Support the development and delivery of training programs for internal users, vendors, and engineering and drafting service providers
- Monitor, report on, and support key performance indicators to drive consistency and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop standard reports to support operational and project information requirements
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of work processes, procedures, written communications, and training materials related to engineering drawing management and process safety information
- Collaborate closely with Asset Information Management (AIM), Process Safety Information (PSI), Facility Records, engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams to support alignment and compliance objectives
- University degree, technical diploma, or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant drawing control experience
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in document control, records management, or drawing management within engineering, construction, or industrial environments
