Position Summary

Increase Parts Sales with existing accounts and prospect new accounts in the assigned territory. Solicit new business and maintain accounts through face‑to‑face and phone contacts.

Essential Position Functions / Responsibilities
  • Regularly visit assigned customers and proactively prospect for new customers.
  • Communicate parts orders and delivery instructions to counter persons.
  • Keep abreast of new products, competition, and pricing trends.
  • Coordinate relationships with new and used truck prospects and service leadership.
  • Promote the sales of parts and accessories and serve as an advisor to wholesale or retail customers.
  • In conjunction with the Credit Manager establish payment methods on wholesale parts and obtain credit approvals.
  • Follow up on and confirm customer requirements and orders to ensure satisfaction.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for processing warranty claims.
  • Review special orders and pricing with Parts Sales Manager for approvals.
  • Deliver orders and pick‑up returns from customers.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage required reports and paperwork (budgets, travel, call reports, expense reports, etc.).
  • Maintain customer records and logs.
  • Perform other duties to meet business needs.
Education & Essential Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or GED.
  • Heavy truck and commercial motor vehicle industry experience.
Skills
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively follow up with external customers and internal departments.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and reach agreed‑upon outcomes.
  • Ability to use creativity to solve problems and meet customer needs within company guidelines.
Key Attributes / Characteristics
  • Independent problem solver (internal and external).
  • Persistent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proven time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of inside or outside sales experience with a proven ability to reach, maintain and exceed sales goals/quotas.
  • General business courses or sales training.
Physical Demands

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The job requires close vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to use arms, hands and fingers to feel, grasp, push, pull or squeeze and reach, and must frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel and talk or hear.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics include frequent exposure to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration, potential exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and the noise level is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
