Perform a variety of mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of the Wayne Transports, Inc. vehicles, and any other vehicles that are brought into service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
RESPONSBILITIES:
- Works under limited supervision and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn damaged parts.
- Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies.
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Verifies vehicle performance.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements.
- Maintains vehicle appearance.
- Maintains vehicle records by logging services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; performing preventive maintenance; cleaning, informing Director of Maintenance of any needed repairs.
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs with general supervision.
- Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair.
- Ability to lift Heavy equipment and vehicle parts
- Self-starter, highly motivated, effective problem solver
- Methodical and detail-oriented
- 2 years of experience or technical training in diesel repair. (Recommended)
- Standing and leaning over extended periods of time
- Walking
- Lifting up to 50lbs occasionally
- Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment
per hour
