Light Equipment Operator
The City of Superior is seeking a full-time, limited-term, fully benefitted, Light Equipment Operator to work at the City Landfill. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Landfill employees must obtain and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License within twelve (12) months of hire. The City will assist with offering a CDL training program upon hire. The duration of this limited term position is expected to last until December 31, 2028, at which time the landfill is projected to close. Location of work:
City Landfill, 107 Moccasin Mike Road Wages: $23.90 - $29.87/hour (2026 wage range) Starting wage is $23.90. Pay grade is made up of 10 wage steps. Employee would move to next step in the grade on anniversary date of hire with the City if meeting expectations of position. Each wage step is approximately 2.5%.
Hours:
40 hours/week; 7:00 am
-3:00 pm Monday-Friday May be required to work on some City holidays (will receive pay for holiday plus time-and-a-half for hours worked). Benefits:

Definition:
Performs a variety of tasks requiring manual labor as well as skilled work of a varied nature in the operation of motorized equipment categorized as light equipment; collects and disposes windblown material, does related work as required. Maintains and cleans facility and equipment. Assists in recycling activities. Cuts grass by using a power mower, roto-tiller and weed whacker.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Employees in this class perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor as well as in the operation of multi-purpose equipment requiring a degree of skill, especially in working grades and in operating equipment more efficiently and safely. Employees in this class are trained to operate the full range of light equipment but may be assigned to operate specific equipment for their assignment.
Standard procedures are followed and the work is inspected periodically for safety and economy of operation by a supervisor. The Light Equipment Operator differs from the higher class of Medium Equipment Operator based upon the equipment operated, although, a Light Equipment Operator may train to operate higher rated equipment.
