Job Summary
The Engineering Carpenter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating wooden fixtures, furniture, doors, cabinets, and interior structures throughout the hotel to ensure all facilities remain safe, functional, and in excellent condition for guests and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair – Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wooden furniture, doors, cabinets, panels, and decorative fixtures.
- Repair damaged guest room furniture, wardrobes, desks, and wooden fittings.
- Fix door locks, hinges, frames, and sliding systems related to carpentry work.
- Ensure all carpentry work complies with hotel safety and quality standards.
- Fabrication and Installation – Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood materials according to specifications.
- Install wooden partitions, shelves, cabinets, and decorative panels.
- Fabricate or modify furniture when required by the hotel.
- Preventive Maintenance – Conduct routine inspection of guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house facilities, identifying potential damages and taking preventive actions before major repairs are required.
- Work Order Management – Respond to engineering work orders related to carpentry issues in guest rooms and hotel facilities, and complete assigned tasks within the required timeframe.
- Safety and Compliance – Follow hotel health, safety, and environmental procedures; maintain proper use and storage of tools and equipment; ensure the working area remains clean and organized.
- Team Collaboration – Coordinate with Engineering team members, Housekeeping, and other departments; support renovation projects and improvement works within the hotel.
- High school or technical/vocational school graduate in engineering or related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in carpentry, preferably in hotel, building maintenance, or construction.
- Previous hotel or facility maintenance experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work under supervision and follow instructions.
- Good communication skills and guest‑oriented attitude.
- Knowledge of carpentry tools, woodworking techniques, and materials.
- Ability to read basic technical drawings or measurements.
