The Management Assistant assigned to the Police Department Finance Unit performs critical financial support work that goes far beyond traditional administrative duties. This position is responsible for processing and paying invoices, verifying accuracy against contracts and purchase orders, maintaining active revenue and expense agreements, managing vendor information, and coordinating purchasing needs. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of financial and procurement processes, and a high level of accountability to ensure compliance, protect public funds, and keep department operations running smoothly.
The scope and impact of this work make it an essential finance-focused position within the Police Department.

SUMMARYIncumbents are responsible for performing professional, technical and administrative activities related to daily operational tasks, and technical and project-based support for an assigned department. This position works independently to support operations, internal and external communications, and departmental consistency. This position bridges routine administrative responsibilities with moderately complex analytical and financial support functions. Incumbents act as technical administrative support to supervisory personnel and will often be tasked with projects that require attention to detail, workflow consistency, time-sensitive internal coordination, and entails working with highly sensitive and confidential information.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEAssociate’s degree and two years of progressively responsible administrative or project management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
