Lead Teacher
Wirtzie’s Preschool & Childcare Program – Surprise, AZ
$19.27/hour | Monday–Friday
Schedule: FT 40 hrs 9:00 AM–6:00 PM

- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that reflects the interests, needs, abilities, and cultural backgrounds of each child.
- Lead your classroom with confidence, providing guidance and support to assistant teachers.

- Supervise children and actively engage them in daily learning activities.
- Support activities of daily living (diapering, toileting, hand washing, and self‑care skill development).
- Communicate weekly curriculum calendars with families.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and Program Supervisor.
- Manage CACFP responsibilities, including required documentation and recordkeeping.
- Maintain classroom materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Keep required certifications current (CPR, First Aid, Food Handler’s, Fingerprint Clearance).
- Associate’s degree or higher with 6 college credits (semester hours) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching in an early care and education classroom.
- Minimum of 20 clock hours of annual training in early childhood/child development (age‑appropriate topics).
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and lesson plans with proper grammar and format.
- Ability to conduct assessments and observations of each student and be able to present these findings during parent‑teacher conferences twice a year.
- Intermediate math and reading skills.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and document preparation).
- Reliable transportation to the Surprise, AZ area.
- Must complete a pre‑employment health appraisal and maintain updated health documentation every two (2) years thereafter in accordance with NAC accreditation standards.
- Ability to obtain Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR, TB/Chest X‑Ray, and Food Handler’s Card (we provide support for certification costs.)
