Position: Graduate Assistant – Part Time
Location: Ottawa University – Surprise, Arizona, Surprise, AZ 85374
Job Type: Part Time (29 hours)
Travel: 100% driving required

Assist the head coach in various aspects of the athletic program with responsibilities including coaching, practice organization and implementation, conditioning supervision, event management, transportation, recruitment, equipment control, academic monitoring and mentoring. Evidence of extensive specific sport experience, collegiate playing and/or coaching, is required.
Essential Functions and Required Duties- Recruit, train and coach members of the athletic program.
- Recruit, retain, and graduate student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program and vibrancy of campus life.
- Fundraising and friend‑raising for program advancement.
- Oversee student-athletes’ academic progress toward degree completion.
- Assist with any and all administrative duties as assigned.
- Ensure adherence to NAIA and rules, including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values.
- Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service.
- Provide Christ‑centered leadership and direction for the Baseball program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of and experience in collegiate sports as an athlete and/or staff member.
- Effective communication and motivational skills.
- Positive role model for student‑athletes, university personnel and members of the off‑campus community.
- Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
- Model and encourage collaboration among University departments, ensuring effective communication and operations.
- Understand the University’s policies and procedures, exercising good judgment accordingly.
- Ensure that university and student information is handled confidentially and ethically in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Ethics.
- Provide leadership in conduct, attitude, and professionalism, representing the University positively.
- Mindful and supportive of the overall Mission of Ottawa University.

- Official undergraduate transcripts (minimum 3.0 GPA) and bachelor’s degree earned.
- Personal statement regarding career goals and three professional references.
- For graduate assistants: enrollment in an Ottawa University graduate program and eligibility to work in the United States, with proper documentation to Human Resources prior to start. International students must secure an F1 visa and meet admission criteria for the MBA program.
- Graduate assistant stipend and benefits include 18 credit hours tuition waiver, partial meal allowance, and a bi‑weekly living stipend (renewal based on performance).
