Life Skills Coach/Career Advisor, Training Instructor / Specialist, Professional Development
Job Overview
- On-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale, AZ – relocation assistance provided
- $150,000 annually
- Full‑time position
Traditional elementary schools reduce expectations when students face challenges. Your approach is the opposite. You hold the conviction that six‑year‑olds are capable of significantly more than conventional classrooms demand, and you have leveraged data to demonstrate this repeatedly.
Alpha operates on a two‑hour academic learning model. Morning sessions use adaptive applications to cover core academics, freeing your schedule for the work that genuinely transforms young lives: coaching, motivation, accountability, and life skills development. You directly own a cohort of K‑3 students while simultaneously coaching the Guides—Alpha's term for the adults who inspire and coach children—who are responsible for their day‑to‑day growth.
Your leadership is hands‑on and embedded, not remote or office‑based.
Your typical day rotates through three core activities. You analyze performance data and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need intervention. You conduct focused coaching conversations that produce clear, actionable next steps rather than generic encouragement. And you lead workshops for groups of five‑ to nine‑year‑olds on topics like public speaking, focus, and how to give and receive feedback.
When you identify effective strategies, you document them. The playbooks you create become the operational standard for all other Guides, amplifying your influence from a single cohort to the entire level. Demonstrating your ability to scale this excellence is the pathway to expanded leadership responsibility.
If you view lowering standards as compassion, this role is not for you. If you view raising them as a form of respect, we encourage you to apply.
What You Will Be Doing- Using performance data, classroom observation, and direct feedback to coach both Guides and students, then holding each accountable to measurable outcomes
- Leading one‑hour live workshops for K‑3 students on life skills including public speaking, focus, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and the practice of giving and receiving feedback
- Conducting individual and small‑group motivation sessions that link each child’s personal goals and interests to tangible academic progress
- Developing and refining playbooks that convert your most effective practices into repeatable systems that other Guides can execute reliably
- Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands
- Teaching academic content or lecturing from the front of a classroom; adaptive apps handle instruction while you coach individuals
- Reducing expectations when students encounter difficulty
- Managing from a distance in the manner of traditional instructional coaches or principals; you remain embedded with your cohort every day
- Managing campus‑wide budget, operations, and parent relationships; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide performance
- Advocating for traditional teaching practices or adhering to a standard K‑12 curriculum
