Duties- Perform planning, design, and construction oversight activities for community and individual water supply, wastewater, and solid waste facilities.
- Visit tribal communities where projects are being planned and constructed.
- Review work prepared by technical staff.
- Estimate costs and materials necessary to construct sanitation facilities.
- Prepare engineering reports.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Valid State driver's license; must be REAL ‑compliant.
- Designated position covered by Public Law 101‑630; must meet criminal background criteria.
- Must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Must have a viable bank account for electronic direct deposits.
This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. Applicants must complete required forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance and maintain regular communication with the assigned Personnel Security Specialist.
Basic Requirements- Degree in Engineering from a school accredited by ABET or equivalent coursework in engineering sciences.
- Combination of education and experience demonstrating thorough knowledge of engineering principles.
- Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
- Evidence of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent written test.
- Completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences with specified courses.
- Related curriculum with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
- At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service, including preparing engineering reports, ensuring proper procedures, and visiting construction worksites.
- Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
- Currently enrolled in a professional engineering program certified by ABET, expected to complete within 9 months, with superior academic achievement.
- Completed at least one full year of graduate level education in engineering or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and 12 months of technician‑equivalent work experience at GS‑5 grade level or higher.
- Completed a 5‑year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Class standing in the upper third of the graduating class.
- Grade‑Point Average of 3.0 or higher overall, or 3.5 or higher in required major courses.
- Election to a national scholastic honor society.
- Submit transcripts or course lists; unofficial transcripts accepted in application, official transcripts required before offer.
- Foreign education must include Certificate of Foreign Equivalency.
- Answer four short essay questions (200 words or fewer each) regarding commitment to the Constitution, improving government efficiency, advancing Executive Orders, and work ethic.
- Certify ownership of responses and disclose use of AI tools.
