Overview
Sonoran Sun Pediatric Therapy is seeking a highly motivated and passionate fully licensed and certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in Arizona for a full-time position. Our services include Speech Therapy (ST), Feeding Therapy (FT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Physical Therapy (PT) for patients from birth to age 20. Our setting is collaborative, fun, and sensory-focused, with a dynamic therapy gym and facilities to enhance treatment for our young patients.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate and articulate sound clinical reasoning in treatment planning and progress implementation.
- Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team to meet patient goals.
- Monitor patients performance in therapy activities and home programs; provide support and encouragement.
- Instruct patients and families in home programs, daily living skills, sensory processing, visual tracking, motor coordination, fine motor skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment.
- Observe and record patients progress, attitudes, and behavior.
- Maintain documentation of progress, observations, and treatment; complete progress notes for each client.
- Assist occupational therapists with implementing treatment plans.
- Report on patients progress, attitudes, behavior, and any questions regarding treatment or goals to supervisors.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipate future legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions.
- Completion of an Occupational Therapy Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education;
Arizona license or eligibility for license in Arizona. - CPR and First Aid certification.
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Knowledge and practice with developmental disorders including, but not limited to, Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Intellectual Impairment, etc.
- Knowledge of motor coordination, sensory integration techniques; ability to facilitate functional muscle movement, promote handwriting and fine motor skills; familiarity with self-regulation, ADL skills, and adaptive equipment.
- Service-, client-, and family-oriented with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

- Schedule:
Day shift, Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, 4-day work week - Work setting:
In-person Clinic, Private Practice - open Mondays through Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM and 8 AM to 5 PM on Friday

- Duties require standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, sitting/playing and crouching on the floor.
- Must be able to lift, position, and transfer clients; participate in physical activities and play-based therapies.
- Most frequently required to lift up to 35 pounds; may occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
- Pediatrics: 1 year (preferred; fieldwork accepted)
- Experience in Feeding (preferred; fieldwork accepted)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
