Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for rheumatology examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medication lists, allergies, and patient history.
- Assist the rheumatologist with examinations, procedures, and in-office treatments.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical supplies.
- Perform injections, and clinical duties as permitted by training and applicable scope of practice.
- Assist with biologic therapy and infusion-related patient care as directed by the clinical team.
- Coordinate laboratory orders, imaging, referrals, and other diagnostic testing.
- Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients as directed.
- Assist with medication prior authorizations, refill requests, and patient medication questions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Monitor and follow up on patient messages, clinical tasks, and provider orders.
- Maintain infection-control, HIPAA, OSHA, and patient-safety standards.
- Provide professional, compassionate, and efficient patient care.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and adequately stocked clinical environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Previous Medical Assistant experience required; specialty practice experience preferred.
- Rheumatology or other specialty-clinic experience preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
- Knowledge of basic clinical procedures, vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Professional, dependable, and compassionate approach to patient care.
