Schedule:
Thursday to Monday – shifts vary: 9 am‑5 pm & 6:30 am‑2:30 pm
Required Experience: Strong understanding of HR Principles and Time Management Systems (Time & Attendance) and proven in‑depth knowledge of Employment Standards Act (ESA), collective agreements management, and best practices for payroll administration.
Job SummaryAs our Payroll/Scheduler, you will manage payroll and benefits administration, schedule preparation, and administrative support for union and collective agreements. Your work ensures accurate, on‑time payroll, consistent scheduling, and seamless administrative operations.
Responsibilities- Enter payroll information for supervisor, administrative, and hourly employees.
- Process payroll adjustments, status change forms, and seniority lists as per collective agreement.
- Troubleshoot benefit issues and payroll with central Compass support staff.
- Assist managers/supervisors with WCB claims and reports.
- Coordinate new hire paperwork with HR, payroll, benefits, and criminal checks.
- Post hourly associate schedules on a weekly basis.
- Process vacation requests, track vacation entitlement, and schedule replacement staff.
- Handle all call‑out procedures and documentation as per collective agreement.
- Maintain phone lists for all staff.
- Collect, revise, and post all hourly positions as per collective agreement.
- Send posting information to the Union.
- Track and invoice the Union for granted Union leave.
- High working knowledge and proficiency using PC‑based tools (Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience with an automated payroll system.
