Procurement Specialist – Services Join a world-class major mining development project. Lead procurement and commercial activities across engineering, consulting and site services. Six month (initial) contract opportunity with a high-performing project team.
Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist – Services to support a major mining expansion project in British Columbia. Working within a dedicated Project Commercial team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement and contract management of a diverse portfolio of service-based contracts, including engineering, consulting, studies, logistics, transportation, warehousing, equipment support services and specialist project contractors. This is a highly visible role where you will work closely with project leadership, technical teams, logistics specialists, contractors and suppliers to ensure commercial outcomes support project schedule, cost and delivery objectives.
Role
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the end-to-end sourcing and contracting of project services packages.
Developing procurement and contracting strategies aligned with overall project objectives.
Preparing and issuing RFx documentation for service contracts.
Managing supplier communications, bid clarifications and commercial evaluations.
Leading commercial negotiations and preparing recommendations for award.
Drafting and administering Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Service Agreements and Service Orders.
Preparing contract amendments, variations and extensions throughout the contract lifecycle.
Supporting logistics and business readiness teams with transportation, warehousing and equipment-related commercial requirements.
Reviewing invoices and supporting contract payment processes.
Building solid relationships with service providers to ensure performance expectations are clearly understood and achieved.
Identifying opportunities to improve value, reduce cost and support project delivery outcomes.
Understanding of project stage-gating requirements and ability to execute within these demands.
Qualifications Successful candidates will bring:
Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance.
5+ years’ experience in procurement, contracts, project commercial or supply chain roles.
Experience supporting major capital projects within mining, resources, energy, infrastructure, industrial or construction environments.
Demonstrated experience negotiating and administering service contracts.
Strong understanding of procurement lifecycle activities including sourcing, tendering, evaluation and contract management.
Experience developing commercial strategies for complex projects.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
Advanced negotiation and supplier management skills.
Experience with ERP and project commercial systems such as SAP, SAP Ariba, Aconex and Contruent or similar platforms.
Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite.
