Solid State is a non-profit economic development organization that builds worker co-ops with racialized communities in Surrey. About
The Role
Solid State is seeking a cooperative developer who will provide core development services to our cohort of worker cooperatives. Although this role encompasses general business development as mentioned in the responsibilities below, we are looking for a candidate with experience in finance and governance models. You will be guiding our co-ops from concept/ideation to revenue generation and help them build financial models and governance structures.
Responsibilities
Cooperative Consultancy
Core Consulting:
Provide advisory services on financial planning, incorporation, governance models, and organizational structure.
Education & Resources:
Deliver cooperative education and startup resources, helping members understand the democratic business model.
Team Strategy:
Assist co-ops in defining their overall team strategy and long-term roadmaps.
Resource Connection:
Connecting coops to external resources and specialists when their needs extend beyond the internal scope.
Service Coordination:
Manage relationships with external service providers and consultants connected to Solid State.
Qualifications
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Proficiency with Project Management tools (specifically Asana) and the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
0-2 years of experience in finance, governance models, business development, or client account management.
Preferred
Pursuing a University/College Degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field (or equivalent life/work experience).
Experience running a small business or working in a startup environment
Prior experience working with cooperatives, social enterprises, or non-profits
Prior experience/background in governance and/or finance

Schedule:
30 hours per week (considered full-time).
Hybrid Model: 4 days in-person; 1 day flexible/remote
Wage: $40.04 per hour
4 Weeks Flexible:
To be taken at your discretion throughout the year.
2 Weeks Fixed (Summer):
Scheduled time off at the end of August.
2 Weeks Fixed (Winter):
Scheduled time off at the end of December.
Full health and dental benefits covered pending probationary period.
