POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a regular full-time Inventory Supervisor to join our Procurement and Asset Management Unit within the Corporate Services Bureau. The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for the effective and secure management of inventory and operational equipment that supports the day-to-day operations of SPS. The position provides supervision, direction, training, and support to staff and ensures inventory operations are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and operational requirements.

The role involves responsibility for a diverse range of inventory, including sensitive and controlled items, and requires sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and a high degree of accuracy and accountability. The Inventory Supervisor works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and contributes to the ongoing effectiveness and integrity of SPS inventory operations.

SCHEDULE / HOURS OF WORK

This is an on-site position and the anticipated schedule for this position is Monday to Friday (7 hours per day, 35 hours per week). Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES SUPERVISION AND STAFF LEADERSHIP
  • Supervises, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of staff.
  • Provides training, guidance, and direction to staff.
  • Participates in recruitment and selection activities.
  • Provides input to the Manager regarding staff performance and development.
  • Provides operational support to staff and assists with the performance of related duties as required.
INVENTORY AND ASSET MANAGEMENT
  • Oversees the safekeeping, maintenance, movement, packing, shipping, and destruction of inventory and operational equipment, including exhibits, use of force items, and other police equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels and a secure, controlled inventory environment.
  • Researches requirements, obtains quotations, and orders applicable assets and inventory items.
  • Conducts safety checks of inventory and equipment.
  • Maintains the safe custody and security of exhibit room keys and exhibits.
  • Conducts audits, identifies and investigates discrepancies, and reports variances as required.
RECORDS, REPORTING AND ADMINISTRATION
  • Prepares and maintains complex records, files, correspondence, reports, and related documentation.
  • Reviews records and files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements.
  • Analyzes relevant data and prepares summaries and reports for management.
  • Responds to inquiries and liaises with internal and external stakeholders.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND PROJECTS
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and provides recommendations regarding inventory methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Develops and drafts forms, procedures, instructions, and related documentation.
