• Discipline child according to parents’ wishes.
• Supervise child at all times to stay aware of his physical and emotional needs and to maintain his constant safety.
• Maintain a safe and healthy home environment.
• Instruct child in personal hygiene.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals.
• Provide child with meal, and keep meal and activity areas clean and well‑organized.
• Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding child.
• Accompany child to community centre, library, park and other places as required. Take child to and from school and to appointments.
• Watch for any signs of behavioural or emotional problems in children and alert parents to the problems.
• Help child with homework if necessary.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Completion of relevant education or training program as child care or previous experience in a similar role.
• First aid certification is required.

• Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces
• Newcomers to Canada
