Terus Construction is an integrated road construction and materials manufacturing company that has built roads in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory for over 30 years through decentralized business centers. About the Role

The Senior Accountant will support accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and provide financial insight to aid operational and management decision‑making. Reporting to the Subsidiary Controller, the role acts as a key financial liaison between operations and finance, ensuring transactions are properly recorded, analyzed, and reported in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

The Senior Accountant plays a hands‑on role in month‑end and year‑end close activities, variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting support, and continuous improvement of financial processes. The position requires a strong understanding of operational accounting, the ability to work independently, and effective communication with both financial and non‑financial stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise a team of approximately three accountants, clerks, and admins to achieve the function’s KPIs.
  • Manage financial transactions for all Aggregate Production and Sales.
  • Act as the subject‑matter expert for related applications, including JWS and JDE.
  • Ensure all financial transactions related to the Aggregate business units are properly coded, allocated, and consistent with financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and in analysis of monthly financial statements and other reporting.
  • Understand, monitor, and report on various royalty agreements in place.
  • Lead and reconcile annual inventory counts for all Aggregate sources.
  • Perform ad hoc duties assigned by the Controller as needed.
Experience and Knowledge Required
  • CPA or working toward CPA designation.
  • Minimum five years of accountancy experience, with at least three years in a Senior Accountant or similar role, ideally within the construction or aggregate industry.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and team‑focused, hands‑on approach.
  • Advanced communication skills (oral, written, and technical).
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000–$100,000 CAD per year. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
