What You’ll Do

We have an immediate opening for a full-time economist in our downtown Vancouver office. You will work directly with experienced forensic economists, progressively developing expertise through applied economic analysis, statistical modelling, and expert-report writing on a varied caseload of personal-injury, fatality, and other economic-loss matters.

No prior forensic-economics experience is required — what we offer is structured mentorship and meaningful exposure to applied economic research in a collaborative, deadline-driven litigation environment.

  • Project lifetime earnings from Statistics Canada census data by age, sex, education, occupation, field of study, and other demographic variables.
  • Estimate the discounted present value of future costs of care.
  • Estimate income taxes, investment management fees, and trustee fees triggered by lump-sum awards for future damages.
  • Allocate financial consumption among family members in fatality claims.
  • Model pension plan perks and contributions.
  • Draft expert reports and critically analyze reports prepared by other firms.
  • Identify, gather, and analyze survey data on time use, household spending patterns, and related topics.
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft Excel calculation models.
  • Track current forensic-economic literature to stay abreast of practice in this exciting, rapidly evolving field.
What We’re Looking For
  • MA in Economics, or in the final stages of completion.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and professional judgment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Word.
  • Familiarity with labour‑market economics, financial modelling, statistical analysis, or applied econometrics.
  • Familiarity with data‑analysis tools, AI‑assisted workflows, programming, or related technical skills is considered an asset.
What We Can Offer
  • Starting salary of $83,500 per year, with compensation reviewed upon successful completion of the three-month probationary period.
  • Discretionary performance bonuses may become available after one full year of employment.
  • Extended Health, Health Spending Account, Long‑Term Disability, Life Insurance, and AD&D coverage, available on completion of the probationary period.
  • Structured mentorship from experienced forensic economists.
  • Meaningful exposure to applied economic research, civil litigation, and expert‑report preparation.
  • Downtown Vancouver office location.
About the Role
