What You’ll DoWe have an immediate opening for a full-time economist in our downtown Vancouver office. You will work directly with experienced forensic economists, progressively developing expertise through applied economic analysis, statistical modelling, and expert-report writing on a varied caseload of personal-injury, fatality, and other economic-loss matters.
No prior forensic-economics experience is required — what we offer is structured mentorship and meaningful exposure to applied economic research in a collaborative, deadline-driven litigation environment.
- Project lifetime earnings from Statistics Canada census data by age, sex, education, occupation, field of study, and other demographic variables.
- Estimate the discounted present value of future costs of care.
- Estimate income taxes, investment management fees, and trustee fees triggered by lump-sum awards for future damages.
- Allocate financial consumption among family members in fatality claims.
- Model pension plan perks and contributions.
- Draft expert reports and critically analyze reports prepared by other firms.
- Identify, gather, and analyze survey data on time use, household spending patterns, and related topics.
- Develop and maintain Microsoft Excel calculation models.
- Track current forensic-economic literature to stay abreast of practice in this exciting, rapidly evolving field.
- MA in Economics, or in the final stages of completion.
- Strong analytical reasoning and professional judgment.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Working familiarity with Microsoft Word.
- Familiarity with labour‑market economics, financial modelling, statistical analysis, or applied econometrics.
- Familiarity with data‑analysis tools, AI‑assisted workflows, programming, or related technical skills is considered an asset.
- Starting salary of $83,500 per year, with compensation reviewed upon successful completion of the three-month probationary period.
- Discretionary performance bonuses may become available after one full year of employment.
