ABOUT

THE ROLE

The Human Resources Director serves as a strategic HR business partner, reporting directly to the Head of HR, ACM NA collaborating to define and refine HR strategies that enhance organizational effectiveness and ensure long-term business success. A pivotal member of the HR leadership team, this position plays an instrumental role in strengthening the organization’s overall capabilities. This includes overseeing talent management, fostering employee development, driving performance management, collaborating on employee & labour relations and leading change management efforts.

As the primary HR Business Partner for the Regional President, Western Region within British Columbia, South Alberta, North Alberta Areas and Washington state as part of the North American ACM region and providing leadership and direction to the HR team responsible for supporting employees in multiple sites and disciplines, in union and non-union environments. In this leadership role, the HR Director is responsible for shaping and optimizing the organizational structure to drive both operational and strategic success.

By aligning HR initiatives with business goals, the HR Director proactively identifies key challenges and crafts actionable solutions that propel the company’s vision forward.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Drive the successful implementation of Health & Safety policies, ensuring organizational compliance and mitigating operational risks.
  • Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to proactively address gaps and create a culture of safety.
  • Lead by example in promoting safe behaviors and enhancing safety performance in the field.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and execute organizational and talent strategies.
  • Identify and address HR challenges, executing solutions that optimize service delivery.
  • Champion talent acquisition, development, and retention initiatives to attract top talent.
  • Collaborate with operations and local unions on collective bargaining and grievance resolution.
  • Implement a robust talent pipeline and succession planning strategy with internal HR COEs.
  • Oversee performance cycles to ensure employees are aligned with high-performance culture goals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree;
    Graduate or Master’s degree in HR Management, Business Management, or Business Strategy preferred.
  • Work Experience:

    Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Certifications:

    HR Certification, CHRP or equivalent.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficient in MS Office; SAP and SF (Success Factors) are an asset.
  • Travel:
    Ability to travel up to 20%
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the building materials industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of talent management, organizational development, and employee relations.
  • Proven experience leading HR teams and managing HR functions across an organization.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
