Key Responsibilities Payroll

  • Accurate and timely processing of bi‑weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and company policies.
  • Maintain payroll records (wage/salary changes, pension, insurance, mandatory deductions, new hires, terminations, leave of absence, etc.).
  • Process ROEs, year‑end T4 and T4A slips.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure accurate processing of new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and incentive pay.
  • Maintain employee records in payroll, HRIS, and ERP systems.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employees’ personal information in compliance with the Privacy Act.
Time and Attendance Management
  • Maintain and administer the time and attendance system to ensure accurate tracking of work hours, PTO, sick leave, and overtime.
  • Generate and distribute Time and Attendance reports to supervisors and managers.
  • Train employees and managers on system usage and provide related support.
  • Work with managers to ensure timely approval of timesheets.
  • Reconcile Time and Attendance data with payroll processing.
  • Identify and resolve time and attendance issues promptly.
Benefits
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other related benefits.
  • Act as liaison between employees and benefits providers.
  • Maintain accurate benefit recording and reporting.
  • Support benefits communication and education initiatives for employees.
  • Generate standard reports and submit monthly reports as directed.
Other Responsibilities
  • Provide support to HR and other departments on payroll, attendance management and benefits related matters.
  • Participate in audit and other compliance related activities.
  • Administer company training programs as required.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks in support of the Human Resources department.
  • Support social committee meetings/events.
  • Maintain company bulletin boards with compliant postings.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned as required.
  • Keep informed and educated about technological advancements and improvements with the area of responsibility.
  • Act with authority to follow ISO procedures, initiate actions to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute to problem solutions, verify implementation of solutions, control further processing, protect the environment, and prevent pollution.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Post‑secondary education in relevant area of specialty; 1 to 2 years successful experience in payroll and benefit administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency using Ceridian Powerpay payroll and Dayforce workforce management software, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and related programs.
  • Experience working in a shared service environment is an asset.
  • Work arrangement:
