This role is more than recruitment—it is about walking alongside community members and job seekers, listening with intention, and providing hands‑on coaching and support from first inquiry through to successful hiring.
Working in collaboration with Indigenous partners, leaders, and communities, you will help create culturally safe, welcoming experiences that reflect Indigenous values and ways of knowing, while supporting a more representative and inclusive workforce across the Interior region.
The worksite location for this position is flexible and can be located anywhere within the Interior Health region

The salary range for this position is $76,1111 (min) to $95,138 (midpoint) to $109,409 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Indigenous Recruiter works closely with members of the Recruitment team, the Business Partner, Indigenous Employee Experience, and the Indigenous Partnerships Team; this role fulfils an integral role in implementing Interior Health’s (IH’s) Indigenous Employee Experience strategy across the Interior region. This role is dedicated to attracting Indigenous talent and enhancing the representation of Indigenous peoples in our workforce, contributing to a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organiza
The Indigenous Recruiter works under the framework of a focused recruitment strategy comprised of four key elements in support of IH’s commitment to increasing Indigenous workforce representation and advancing workforce equity over time.
- Community Engagement – creating recruitment linkages with Indigenous communities.
- Student Engagement – building for the future through recruitment linkages with educational partners.
- Building Organizational Awareness – guiding more effective Indigenous-focused hiring practices in IH.
- Recruiter Activities – marketing employment opportunities to ‘job ready’ Indigenous peoples and supporting all members of the Recruitment team to engage in practices that support IH’s representative goal.

Developing and sustaining IH’s recruitment capacity. - Building relationships to attract potential future talent.
- A strong recruitment team that supports hiring managers in meeting their Health Human Resource needs and supports candidate readiness through guidance
- Works collaboratively with IH leaders/managers to promote work opportunities to Indigenous candidates.
- Provides Indigenous focused candidate sourcing advice and guidance to hiring managers and other members of the Recruitment team.
- Works alongside other Recruiters to prescreen and short-list Indigenous candidates as per manager specifications.
- Provides assistance to the recruitment team’s marketing specialists with development of culturally sensitive marketing materials.
- Provides HR guidance to managers on interview and selection of external Indigenous applicants.
- Provides support and guidance to managers and members of the Recruitment team around Section 42.
