Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity fora Compensation Advisor tojoin our Human Resources Division,within the Corporate Services Bureau.
Reporting to the Compensation and Benefits Manager, and as a key member of the Human Resources team, the Compensation Advisor provides expertise in unionized job evaluation and classification. Working closely with key stakeholders, the Compensation Advisor will complete all stages of the union job evaluation process.
This is an
on-site
position and the anticipated schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Please note, thehours are subject to change based on operational needs.
- Creating and amending class specifications, including interviewing employees and managers to seek input.
- Conducting job evaluation on new and existing jobs.
- Handling reclassification requests.
- Actingas quality control for compensation review decisions.
- Communicating outcomes and rationale of job evaluations to unions, managers and staff.
- Participating in and conducting compensation surveys.
- Participating in the development and implementation of related policies and procedures.
- Supporting the job review process for exempt positions.
- Contributing to compensation projects and initiatives.

- Ability to work collaboratively with union representatives to address compensation and job evaluation inquiries and/or issues.

- Ability to manage complex tasks under tight deadlines.
- Ability to research, understand, and synthesize data with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and exercise good judgment.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a health or related field.
- Minimumof 5 years of directly related experience.
- Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS,which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

The salary range for this position is $107,951 -$127,001 (Pay Band P2) based on 2024 Rates. Junior candidates may be considered at a salary range of $89,817 - $105,667 (Pay Band P1).
