Our client, one of Surrey’s most established and highly reputable law firms is looking for a top-notch Wills & Estates Paralegal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning
Draft and prepare Wills, Powers of Attorney, Representation Agreements, and family trusts in accordance with applicable legislationDraft and prepare documents relating to family, alter ego, joint spousal, disability and Pecore trusts, along with all associated documentsPrepare and manage committee-ship applicationsReview client instructions and ensure accurate implementation in estate planning documentsCoordinate execution and witnessing of estate planning documentsMaintain and organize estate planning files and precedentsEstate Administration
Prepare and file Probate and Administration applications and supporting documentationAssist with estate administration, including asset identification and valuationAwareness of the process for resealing applications requiredLiaise with beneficiaries, executors, financial institutions, trust companies, funeral homes, accountants, realtors, the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC’s office and court registriesPrepare Executor’s Accounts and related reporting, and manage the file to final distributionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Paralegal diploma or certificateMinimum 7-9 years of experience in Wills, Estates and Corporate law in a law firm or professional services environmentIn-depth knowledge of estate planning and probate proceduresSome knowledge of corporate and real estate practices as they relate to estates an assetExperience working directly with clients on sensitive and confidential mattersStrong attention to detail and accuracyProficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, File Site/iManage DMS, and Elite 3E accounting software (preferred)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to multitask and prioritize workAbility to work independently and conduct files from start to finish
