THE ROLEA management role overseeing the full accounting function for a regional construction office, reporting to both regional and corporate senior leadership, with responsibility for team leadership, financial reporting, purchasing oversight, and driving process and personnel improvements.
- Team Leadership & Oversight (50%)

- Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department including AP, collections, payroll, and progress billing
- Mentor and develop team members, establishing individual development plans and promoting professional growth
- Distribute monthly close schedules and deadlines to staff, holding them accountable for timely submissions
- Monitor staff work for accuracy, ensuring transactions are recorded in the correct period and allocated to the proper jobs
- Cross-train on all accounting functions to serve as backup when team members are absent or on leave
- Provide daily support and guidance to resolve issues the team encounters, reducing reliance on head office
- Address performance gaps and enforce accountability through structured conversations, including disciplinary action where necessary
- Lead change management initiatives to establish and reinforce proper procedures across the department and with operational staff
- Lead the monthly close process within the established 12-15 business day timeline without requesting extensions
- Review and calculate cost to complete reports, performing variance analysis and preparing financial statement notes
- Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages for head office consolidation
- Prepare 12-month revenue forecasts by project for senior management
- Coordinate the annual year-end audit, respond to auditor inquiries including variance analysis, and ensure staff provide requested information on time
- Approve invoices on a daily basis, verifying receipt of goods, dollar amounts, and correct job cost allocation
- Monitor purchasing activity to ensure materials received are recorded in the correct period to maintain cost to complete accuracy
- Work closely with the purchasing team to enforce proper procedures and improve tracking discipline
- Provide timely and readable financial information and reports to VPs, project managers, and senior leadership
- Escalate unresolved collections, billing, and compliance issues by engaging directly with operational staff in person when necessary

- Review existing workflows and begin identifying gaps in procedures and compliance
- Independently manage the monthly close within established deadlines without requesting extensions
