In this critical role, you’ll implement strategies for Michif documentation and oversee a small team dedicated to resource development. Your expertise in Michif languages will ensure culturally sensitive practices are maintained while fostering relationships with speakers and stakeholders. You’ll contribute to impactful language revitalization efforts while managing project budgets and vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate documentation projects and manage the Michif portfolio
• Build supportive relationships with Michif language speakers
• Oversee budgeting processes and track financial performance
• Supervise team members and facilitate their professional growth
• Engage with MNBC departments on language initiatives
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Linguistics or similar
• Minimum 5 years of experience in language documentation
• 2 years of direct supervisory experience in project management
• Strong financial management and contractor oversight skills
• Flexibility for travel within and outside BC
Lead the drive for Michif language revitalization through community collaboration and effective resource management with Métis Nation British Columbia.
