Role Overview
As a mechanical workshop manager you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising workshop activities. Your goal is to optimize performance and profitability while supporting your team in achieving their objectives.
Responsibilities- Manage work orders and production schedules in collaboration with the technical advisor and service manager.
- Assign work orders to mechanics according to their skills, explain the nature of the work and supervise its execution.
- Prepare estimates and ensure compliance with predefined rates (Flat Rate).
- Approve work orders before invoicing and support the service manager in explaining work and costs to the customer.
- Work with the sales department to gather the information needed to prepare new and used equipment.
- Prioritize returns to the workshop and ensure immediate follow-up.
- Communicate regularly with advisors on the progress of operations.
- Plan mechanics' schedules and participate in their annual appraisals.
- Organize and lead in-house training sessions, while ensuring knowledge transfer during manufacturer training sessions.
- Manage tool supplies and workshop organization.
- Knowledge of agricultural mechanics (asset).
- Recognized leadership and ability to mobilize a team.
- Excellent supervisory and organizational skills.
- Customer service skills and effective communication.
- Ability to manage priorities and solve problems quickly.
