Position: Development Officer, Leadership Giving (Fraser Region)

About the Opportunity
Working as part of the Discovery Circle team, the Development Officer is responsible for generating leadership giving with a focus on the Fraser Region. This role will manage a large portfolio (250+) of mid-level prospects across the Fraser Region and oversee the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a broad pool of donors from a range of program areas to increase revenue.
This role works closely with other Foundation staff to ensure seamless donor integration between specialized portfolios, including corporate relations, community giving, major gifts and gift & estate planning. This individual will interface regularly with regional Foundation staff to ensure they are well-versed in priority projects throughout the province.
Reporting to the Director, Development, responsibilities will include:
Mid-Level Donor Cultivation and Fundraising, Stewardship & Growth
Cultivate, secure and steward discovery circle gifts in the $1,000 to $25,000 range through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, emails and stewardship opportunities, while identifying and securing opportunities to elevate givingIdentify giving patterns of current donors and prospects; identify donors with potential for growth and increased involvement with BCCFUtilize excellent interpersonal skills to engage individuals and manage relationships in a number of different capacities – with donors, volunteer Board and Cabinet members, senior administrators, medical and research staffFundraising Strategy, Planning & Performance
Setting and achieving aspirational annual activity goals aligned with the priorities of the Foundation and BC Cancer related to: strategic donor engagement; solicitations (current and planned gifts) and the success rate of same; engagement of our BC Cancer partners; and collaborative activities related to revenue generation across the Foundation.Evaluating site/program results with direct manager to identify potential challenges and respond to day-to-day concerns.Develops an understanding of BCCF fundraising priorities, attending prospect and donor strategy meetings where necessary to recommend research strategies and approachesCollaboration, Programs Support & Data Management
Maintain accurate, strategic and timely information on prospects and donors in our database, Raiser’s EdgeBuild strong and collaborative working relationships with BC Cancer counterparts, where appropriate, to ensure alignment and support for fundraising activity.Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of BC Cancer prioritiesRepresent the BC Cancer Foundation, when requested, at official meetings and functions as required.Qualifications:
A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field, plus 3 years’ experience in fundraising / donor relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceMust have a demonstrated ability to secure mid-level gifts with a readiness to broaden their fundraising skills to include gift and estate planning and major giftsMust have regular access to a vehicle and have a valid driver's licenceTravel throughout the Fraser Region will be required for this roleCore Competencies:
