Job Requirement

Education :
Possess a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent hands‑on experience in the field.

Experience :

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional construction painting experience.
  • Experience performing residential, commercial, industrial, or multi‑family painting projects.
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation, coating application, finishing techniques, and the safe use of painting tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity, and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience estimating labour, materials, and project timelines.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and project specifications.
  • Knowledge of specialty coatings and protective finishes.
  • Experience training or providing guidance to junior painters or painter helpers.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and safe operation of ladders, scaffolds, and aerial work platforms.
Language Skills

English is required to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, clients, and to comply with workplace health and safety requirements.

Job Duties
  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, pressure washing, patching, caulking, and priming.
  • Repair cracks, holes, drywall imperfections, and damaged surfaces prior to painting.
  • Mix, tint, and match paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, and specialty coatings to achieve required colours and finishes.
  • Apply paints and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, conventional spray equipment, and airless spray systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine project requirements.
  • Measure and estimate materials required for assigned projects.
  • Protect surrounding surfaces by masking and covering furniture, fixtures, flooring, and adjacent work areas.
  • Erect and safely use ladders, scaffolds, swing stages, and other access equipment when required.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and client specifications are met.
  • Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and clean condition.
  • Coordinate work efficiently with supervisors and other construction trades to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Assist in providing guidance and technical support to less experienced painters and painter helpers when required.
  • Comply with all company policies and occupational health and safety regulations.
