Build gas distribution skills with FortisBC as a Distribution Assistant in Surrey, BC, learning pipe fitting, welding, and field safety procedures.
This full-time regular position supports construction, maintenance, and operation of the Gas Distribution system. You will receive classroom and on-the-job training while developing skills in pipe installation, repairs, customer service, and software applications. The program prepares you for advancement through hands-on coaching.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with installing distribution pipes, fittings, and components
- Support repairs and alterations to existing mains
- Learn welding and simple pipe fitting procedures
- Develop small meter setting and appliance relight skills
- Use tools, equipment, instruments, and required forms
- High school graduation, Grade 12, or GED
- Valid Class 5 BC driver's license and safe record
- Mechanical aptitude and initiative
- Safe work habits and sustained regulatory compliance
- Physical strength for walking, bending, and lifting
Develop gas operations knowledge, pipe fitting ability, and safe field practices while representing FortisBC in Surrey.
