Commercial Driver's License - Part Time Instructor
Position Summary
:
Under the direction of the Dean of Academic Services, provide instruction in the program. The assignments may include collegiate transfer and pre‑collegiate basic skills courses. Teaching assignments may be day, evening, online, hybrid, or face‑to‑face in a prison environment. Temporary part‑time instructors are compensated $70.51 per credit hour taught per semester.
- Instruct assigned classes according to the contract, syllabus, and course outline.
- Deliver lectures, facilitate discussions, and guide learning activities in in‑person, online, hybrid, and other modalities.
- Employ diverse teaching strategies, Universal Design for Learning, and andragogical practices.
- Monitor student attendance and performance; use early alert systems to support at‑risk students.
- Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and adapt resources to meet course objectives.
- Design, administer, and grade quizzes, exams, projects, and other evaluations; provide constructive feedback.
- Respond to student questions promptly and refer students to support services when appropriate.
- Maintain respectful, inclusive learning environments and enforce campus policies.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress; submit required documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate in program reviews, student learning outcome plans, and faculty evaluation processes.
- Any bachelor’s degree or higher with two years of professional experience, or associate degree with six years of professional experience (professional experience includes teaching).
- Experience teaching in an academic or industry setting with development and delivery of formalized educational content.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, inclusive education, and continuous professional development.
- Proficiency with educational technology, learning management systems, early alert tools, and other relevant software.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
- Background check and tuberculosis clearance.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Compliance with mandated reporter requirements.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license in California.
- Obtain and maintain gate clearance at California correctional facilities to perform duties.
