Licensed Psychiatric Technician

• Full‑time assignment at the correctional facility located in Susanville, CA.
• 40 hours per week

• Rate: $58 per hour ($2,320 per week)
• Status:
  Traveler

• Valid license from the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
• Minimum of one full year of experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician.

Under the direction of the institution’s designee, the Temporary Relief Psychiatric Technician shall provide services within the scope of practice for Psychiatric Technicians in accordance with institution/facility policies and procedures. The duties shall include, but are not limited to:

• Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients/youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness.
• Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administering medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, and taking and charting temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure.
• Work with other disciplines as part of the treatment team in developing treatment plans and objectives from assessments, providing an overall treatment program for patients/youth.
• Assist in developing group and individual therapy regimens and act as a provider of group therapy.
• Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in the management of mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.
• Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes.
• Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patients/youth present at their clinical appointments.
• Assist in first‑responder duties, such as giving CPR and first aid as needed.
• Follow all documentation procedures accurately and completely.
• Help create a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients/youth.
