Director of Operations General Purpose of Job

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites. It will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of sustainable change through the creation and embedding of LEAN methodology and the supporting framework to deliver business transformation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Identify and deliver improvement activity across the business through process improvement methodologies.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams in identifying areas for improvement, analyzing workflows, and implementing solutions to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Lead cross functional Kaizen events targeted on KPI improvements and measurable results.
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders across the business.
  • Develop a ‘LEAN champions’ internal network, to build a continuous improvement environment.
  • Lead and facilitate LEAN/process improvement‑based workshops to drive ideas and solutions.
  • Eliminate unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working.
  • Ensure all projects have measurable results and monitoring via internal governance and controls.
  • Actively monitor project risks and proactively identify solutions to address in advance.
  • Ensure the business impact and project objectives/dependences are identified, reported on and managed.
  • Complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery.
  • Demonstrate and encourage innovative thinking.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Preferred Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Operations Management, or Supply Chain.
  • Minimum accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, preferably Black Belt.
  • Minimum 5 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including process engineering, industrial engineering, project management, or business analytics.
  • Knowledge of motion control, web handling, processing and testing equipment preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with professional presentation and negotiation skills.
  • A ‘completer‑finisher’ taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery.
  • Experience of designing or implementing a framework of continuous improvement.
  • Experience of hands‑on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions.
  • Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.
  • Ability to structure design of experiments, use lean six sigma problem solving methodology, and plan, do, check, act problem solving for daily operational issues in a fast‑paced, customer‑centric plant environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others; able to influence peers and business leaders.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, lift 50 lbs, stand on feet all day, and communicate well in a noisy environment.
  • Travel up to 10%.
