Job SummaryThe Senior Composite Design Engineer leads the development and design of fiber‑reinforced polymer (FRP) composite products for infrastructure applications such as tanks, buildings, covers, and other structural components. The role applies expertise in closed‑mold composite processes (RTM, vacuum infusion), structural engineering, and relevant infrastructure codes to deliver product solutions and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of FRP composite products for infrastructure applications.
- Collaborate with the Composite Sales Manager to create tailored design solutions for customer projects and identify new product development opportunities.
- Drive value‑engineering initiatives to improve design efficiency and reduce cost.
- Oversee and optimise manufacturing processes, especially closed‑mold techniques (RTM, vacuum infusion).
- Collaborate on material selection, including resins, reinforcements, core materials, adhesives, and coatings.
- Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards (IBC, AASHTO, ASCE, ASTM, ACI, AISC) to ensure code compliance in structural designs.
- Perform structural analysis and guide product testing and validation.
- Support cross‑functional teams including production, QA/QC, sales, and product and project management.
- Interface with customers, certification agencies, and third‑party engineers as needed.
- Represent the company at key composite industry events to stay current with industry trends and strengthen professional networks.
- Maintain and promote a positive safety culture and professional standards.
- Attend consistently and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in composite product design (10+ years preferred).
- Expertise in closed‑mold composite processes.
- Strong structural engineering capabilities and working knowledge of composite materials—including resins, fibers, cores, adhesives, and coatings.
- Familiarity with infrastructure products and relevant codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, AASHTO, ASTM).
- Proficiency in 3‑D CAD (Solid Works preferred; Inventor acceptable).
- Familiarity with structural analysis tools (FEA software such as ANSYS, Solid Works Simulation) is desired but not required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license highly beneficial but not required.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel and meet safety and driver requirements.

Physical Requirements
The role includes indoor/outdoor work in production areas and project sites, with travel to motor‑vehicle and airplane destinations and overnight stays. Responsibilities involve prolonged sitting, use of computers, manual handling of up to 20 lb unassisted and occasional lifting up to 50 lb, and operating PPE such as gloves. Light lifting (under 20 lb) is required; lifting over 50 lb must be assisted. Work may occasionally extend beyond regular business hours.
