Responsibilities- Safety/Culture:
Continuously maintains safety, cultural, and professional standards; promotes a positive safety culture and safe practices; reads production drawings and assembles subcomponents into finished products using epoxies, glues, resins, screws, nuts, and bolts; trims, sands, grinds, drills, and/or routers fiberglass parts into accurate finished products; recognizes part defects and makes repairs; uses PPE correctly and follows chemical storage and labeling requirements;
follows all safety rules; uses power tools safely and maintains equipment; documents data using tablet/computer; communicates issues to Lead Technician and Supervisor; reads work orders and completes projects for shipment using SOPs/MOPs; sets up jigs/fixtures; boxes, packages, and labels finished products for shipment; maintains a clean work area and adheres to safety practices; performs other duties as assigned. - Systems Production:
Cuts PVC, Polyethylene, and ABS pipe, tubing, sheets, and Polyester filter fabric; drills, saws, grinds, sands, sews, and welds fiberglass, PVC, ABS, and Polyethylene components; dispenses and applies adhesives and cements; prepares finished products for shipment.
No minimum required.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience- Less than one year of experience in Orenco Manufacturing shops.
- Completion of the two-hour Emergency Response & HW (Haz Wopper) Training, and annual follow-up training is required. Training description: emergency communication, alarms, evacuation routes, contingency plan implementation/emergency procedures, emergency equipment use; hazardous waste management – handling and storage rules.
- Good communication and team-building skills; ability to adapt to priority changes with little notice; remain calm under pressure; use sound judgement in problem-solving; follow instructions, work quickly and efficiently, independently or as part of a team; read a tape measure; prioritize and manage multiple tasks; effectively communicate mechanical and/or electrical problems and part quality issues with leads and engineering staff; consistently meet production standards;
keep work area clean and safe; attend team meetings; follow safe-handling procedures for composite chemicals; distinguish material differences; basic math and computer skills; operate power tools and equipment safely; effectively communicate safety concerns; avoid disruptive behaviors.
Adhesive sprayers, shop saws, Allen wrenches, Anver lifts, battery-operated punch, broom, caulk gun, chalk lines, chemical dispensing equipment, chop saw, circular saw, clamps, CNC router, crimping tool, cup gun, digital caliper, drill, drill press, fixtures, forklift (may require certification), grinders, hammer, hand tools, hand truck, heat gun, hose cutter, infusion molds, jig saw, jigs, ladder, level, lifts, load turners, molds, overhead crane, paint gun, pallet jack, plumbing hardware, pneumatic tools, power washer, printer, razor knife, resin pump, router, sanders, scanner, scissors, sewing machine, sh eeter, shovel, table saw, tablet, tape measure, ultrasonic welder, vise.
May be required to operate a pallet jack and/or stand-up forklift, both require certification prior to authorization to operate.
Indoor/outdoor production environment with exposure to chemicals and dust. Some tasks may occur in restricted entry or confined spaces. Respirators may be required for most jobs and must be medically certified with fit testing and training before use. Protective equipment (Tyvek suits, dust masks, ear protection, gloves) is provided. One-time training is available for respirator use and maintenance.
Physical RequirementsSeeing, speaking, hearing, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, repetitive hand use, twisting, squatting, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and long periods of standing/walking on concrete. Regular duties require lifting 20-50 lbs, occasionally up to 70 lbs. Lifting over 70 lbs requires assistance.
Salary: $18.00 per hour
