General Position Summary

Entry to intermediate level position focused on the production of Orenco wastewater treatment products. The role requires a sense of purpose, teamwork, and the ability to move quickly from task to task while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Essential Functions & KRA
  • Safety/Culture
    • Continuously maintains Orenco Management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
    • Promotes a positive safety culture, encourages safe practices, and fosters a safe work environment.
    • Loads or fills molds with appropriate raw materials while paying close attention to detail.
    • Reads production drawings and assembles subcomponents into finished products using epoxies, glues, resins, screws, nuts, and bolts.
    • Trims, sands, grinds, drills, and/or routes fiberglass parts into accurate finished products.
    • Recognizes part defects and makes appropriate repairs.
    • Uses PPE correctly and performs proper chemical storage and labeling.
    • Follows all safety rules diligently.
    • Uses power tools safely, maintains equipment, and cleans the work area daily.
    • Follows SOPs and MOPs in all areas.
    • Uses tablet and computer to enter and retrieve data.
    • Communicates material, equipment, safety, or quality issues to Lead Technician and Supervisor.
    • Reads and interprets work orders, completing projects for shipment using manufacturing drawings.
    • Sets up and uses various jigs and fixtures.
    • Boxes, packages, and labels finished products for shipment.
    • Operates shop equipment such as the cardboard compacter as needed.
    • Works during manufacturing business hours, with occasional overtime and shifts.
    • Maintains regular, consistent attendance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Controls – Standard/Custom / OEM
    • Assembles control panels according to specifications, including back plate setup, wiring, modifying, enclosing, and packaging.
    • Kits production work orders by cutting wires, installing crimps, cutting din rail, cutting wire tray/cover, and pulling parts from the bill of materials.
    • Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs control panels.
    • Programs circuit boards, firmware chips, and logic devices.
    • Fabricates protrusions in fiberglass, metal, and plastic enclosures with drills, plasma cutter, CNC router, and various pneumatic tools.
    • Assembles complex enclosures and electrical components.
    • Creates labels using printers and engravers.
    • Cuts, drills, grinds, and bends material for assembly of control panels.
    • Solders electrical components and control panels.
    • Identifies BOM errors and informs Lead Technician.
Education

No minimum required.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Less than one year of experience in Orenco manufacturing shops.
  • Completion of the two‑hour Emergency Response & HW (Haz Wopper) Training; annual follow‑up required.
  • Good communication and team‑building skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust priorities with little notice and remain calm under pressure.
  • Sound judgment and follow‑through in problem‑solving and decision making.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work quickly and efficiently, independently and as a team member.
  • Proficiency using a tape measure, basic math and calculator, basic computer use.
  • Ability to operate power tools and other equipment safely.
  • Shows effective communication of mechanical/electrical problems and part quality issues.
  • Consistently meets production standards and keeps work area clean and safe.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings.
  • Familiar with safe handling and storage of composite chemicals.
  • Distinguishes differences in materials of similar type, look, and feel.
  • Avoids disruptive behaviors that negatively impact the team.
