Position Summary
Your main responsibility is to maintain, repair, and fabricate parts for all production shops, including Sutherlin and North Bank facilities. The role requires troubleshooting equipment, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and coordinating with production to schedule downtime.
- Continuously support the company’s safety, cultural, and professional standards and promote a positive safety culture.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and repair faulty machinery.
- Complete preventative maintenance tickets requiring intermediate skills.
- Report accurate consumption of replacement parts to the repair parts management system.
- Coordinate with production to schedule equipment downtime and perform maintenance.
- Document work performed in the Maintenance Management System.
- Check with machine operators for feedback and monitor machine performance.
- Keep work area clean and free of safety hazards.
- Attend and participate in team meetings.
- Assist in mechanical or construction tasks with machinists, carpenters, electricians, and other trades.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance; occasional overtime and early or late shifts may be required.
- GED or equivalent education demonstrating reading, writing, and basic mathematics skills.
- One year of solid experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Basic metal fabrication skills (cutting, drilling, copying parts, welding).
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of pumps, bearings, seals, pneumatic controls, hydraulics, electrical components, and basic computer skills.
- Basic understanding of compressed air systems, gaskets, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
- Must follow instructions and work independently while using sound judgment.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record; personal vehicle used for business requires insurance and must meet company insurability requirements.
- Completion of initial 8‑hour Emergency Response & Haz Wopper Operations level training, followed by annual training.
- Completion of Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out certification, forklift certification, and confined space and fall protection certification within 45 days of hire.
- Bench Grinder, Chop Saw, Drill Press, Forklift, Grinders/Sanders, Hand Truck, Pallet Jack, Pipe Benders, Pipe Cutters, Pipe Threading Machine, Pneumatic Wrenches, Powered Hand Drills, Punch Press, Vehicle, Wire Welder, Oxy‑Acetylene Welding & Cutting Equipment.
- Miscellaneous hand tools such as tape measure, calipers, micrometers, hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, levels, sand blasters, reamers, and razor knives.
Indoor/outdoor production environment with exposure to chemicals, styrene, paints, and solvent fumes. Respirators are available with proper medical certification and training. Some exposure to glare from welding and cutting torch requires appropriate personal protective equipment.
Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of standing, walking, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, and repetitive foot and hand movements. Frequent unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs, occasional lifting up to 70 lbs (lifting over 70 lbs must be assisted). Occasional operation of a motor vehicle.
Salary$20.42 – $29.68 per hour
