Position SummaryThis is an intermediate level facilities maintenance position that utilizes the incumbent's training, experience, and knowledge to perform maintenance and construction work in plant and office buildings and facilities management. Salary: $18.00 per hour.
Responsibilities Safety/Culture- Continuously maintain Orenco management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
- Promote, encourage, and reinforce a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment for all employees.
- Plan the set up and operation of woodworking tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
- Install wood or metal parts; install or replace glass and perform roofing or siding work as required.
- Operate light equipment such as lawn mowers and weed eaters as situations dictate.
- Follow all Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
- Complete paint touch‑up or new construction painting using brushes and/or sprayer.
- Keep work area clean and free of safety hazards.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Survey and stake proposed structure layouts at construction sites.
- Attend and participate in team meetings.
- May be part of a mechanical/construction team on the construction, installation, or repairs of machinery and structures, working with other trades such as machinists, mechanics, electricians, etc.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
No minimum requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience- At least one to two years of woodworking experience and the knowledge and skills to operate machines and equipment of varying types for use in the carpentry trade.
- Completion of initial eight‑hour Emergency Response & Haz Wopper Operations level training is required. Completion of the annual eight‑hour Haz Wopper‑Operations Level training is required thereafter.
- Basic mathematics skills.
- Ability to use tape measures and complete set‑ups on machinery.
- Flexibility to change priorities with little notice.
- Very high degree of precision, quality, and follow‑through.
- Ability to follow instruction and work independently.
- Sound judgement and problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Must meet and maintain Orenco's approved driver criteria; valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and current insurance on personal vehicle.

Indoor/outdoor production environments involving exposure to chemicals, paints, and solvent fumes, wood dust, and other contaminants. Personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, face shields, dust masks, respirators, etc., are available. Work takes place during manufacturing business hours, with occasional early or late shifts and overtime required at times.
Physical RequirementsRegular duties include visual, auditory, reading, writing, keyboarding, and computer screen work. Prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors and varied terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, measuring, cutting, stacking, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. Requires unassisted lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs.; lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted.
