Role Summary

We hold a belief that no child should be disadvantaged and that all children are part of the community, enjoying all that this offers including celebrations, events and fundraising. The home, rated Good by OFSTED, accommodates up to six Young People with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, and associated behaviours. Some children are non‑verbal or have limited communication and rely on picture boards, Smartbox devices and Makaton.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and support to children and young people during waking nights.
  • Support positive, inclusive experiences and encourage children to be the best version of themselves.
  • Communicate using picture boards, Smartbox devices, Makaton and other appropriate methods.
  • Document care accurately in an electronic recording system on a daily basis.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input on care plans.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing environment at all times.
Requirements
  • Experience in residential childcare environment.
  • Level 3 Children’s and Young People or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid driver’s licence; a company vehicle will be provided for the duration of work hours.
  • Ability to work unsociable hours (evenings, nights, weekends).
  • Confidence using digital systems; prior experience with Clearcare is an advantage.
Preferred but Not Essential
  • Experience in Residential Childcare Environment (Preferred)
  • Level 3 Children’s and Young People or equivalent (Preferred but not essential)
  • Driver (company provide a car during working hours)
  • Able to work unsociable hours (evenings, nights and weekends)
  • New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.
