Must hold or be eligible for a valid certificate in school psychology. National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification preferred.
Education QualificationsCompletion of a state‑approved certification preparation program in school psychology at the specialist degree level or higher, or completion of a master's degree plus 60 graduate semester hours / 90 quarter hours of school psychology coursework from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)-approved program.
Experience QualificationsCompletion of a successful year's internship in conjunction with public schools following conferred degree required. Three years experience as a school psychologist preferred.
Skills QualificationsKnowledge of psycho‑educational assessments; ability to consult with administrators, teachers, and parents; knowledge of principles of learning and behavior, special education laws and regulations, provision of in‑service training for school faculties, and crisis intervention; ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to communicate courteously with other district employees, parents, and the public; excellent oral and written communication skills;
demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to effectively perform multiple tasks; and effective human relations skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
