Speech and Language Pathologist

This position requires meeting Georgia certification requirements in the appropriate field of education. A Bachelor's Degree in the applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university is required. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Skills include knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, GCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.

Understanding of the teaching/learning process, ability to infuse technology into instruction, and excellent communication skills are also necessary. The role involves planning and providing learning experiences for students based on the district's AKS curriculum, developing and prioritizing instructional objectives, analyzing student work and assessments, preparing written lesson plans, and utilizing effective instructional strategies. The position also requires managing student behavior, assisting with physical needs, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district due process policies.

Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and operating a motor vehicle. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock, with a moderate noise level in the work environment.
