Position Overview
In this role of Electrical Engineer 2, as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction team, you will develop and integrate building power and lighting engineering deliverables for complex electrical construction projects across mission‑critical sectors such as healthcare, industrial, transportation, pharmaceutical, federal, and Fortune 500 companies.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements including U.S. citizenship for access to classified information.
You will be provided with the tools required to succeed, including access to experienced engineers and training on industry standards, codes, and software.
Responsibilities- Originate and execute detailed design with limited supervision by Senior Engineers, including design or integration of:
- Normal power medium and low voltage distribution systems
- Emergency power generation and distribution systems, including UPS
- Coordinate device locations with other trades (mechanical, plumbing, architectural, lab, medical, kitchen, etc.) and interpret equipment requirements
- Lighting layouts, including calculation of lighting levels
- Project specifications for all equipment and installation methods
- Perform analysis of electrical distribution systems, including short circuit, overcurrent device coordination, arc flash, cable pull, duct bank heating, etc.
- Document design work via AutoCAD and REVIT in 2D and 3D platforms
- Provide support for construction activities, including responses to RFIs, review of project equipment submittals, and technical support of operations management.
- Assist in mentoring entry‑level engineers and assign/manage tasks.
- Assist Project Lead Engineers in managing project support and deliverables; manage project support and deliverables as Project Lead Engineer on smaller or less complex projects.
- Perform quality control checks of work product you provide, and the work product provided by others.
- Travel to project job sites as required.
- Actively participate in design and owner/architect/contractor meetings as necessary.
- Determine or assist in determining project engineering scopes, deadlines, and budget; complete support within agreed deadlines and budget.
- Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and ensure objectives of the company and client are achieved.
- Coordinate work with other project team members.
- Inform all relevant M.C. Dean staff of client matters.
- Commit to self‑learning and professional development.
- Manage time effectively and support multiple projects concurrently.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited engineering program
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in design or commissioning of building power systems
- Proficient in Revit
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Subject to a government security investigation; U.S. citizenship required for access to classified information.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- EIT certification; ability to sit for PE license exam within 2 years of hire
- Experience in mission‑critical, healthcare, industrial, transportation, pharmaceutical, federal, and Fortune 500 sectors
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Expert in Revit
- Proficiency with engineering analysis software such as AGI
32, SKM, or ETAP - Master’s degree in engineering or management
- Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification
- Certified Power Quality (CPQ) certification
- Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification
- Lighting Certified Certification (LC)
- Certified Lighting & Efficiency Professional (CLEP) certification
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification
- Exposure to computer screens for extended periods
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction
- Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, e.g., using a keyboard
